Antonio McPherson, custodian in the UK Center for Applied Energy Research’s facilities division, was named the 2018 recipient of the Marybeth McAlister Memorial Outstanding Staff Award.
McPherson was recognized for his selfless spirit, constantly going above and beyond to support colleagues and the Center’s research, teaching, and service missions.
“Antonio is the consummate team player,” said Courtney McCarthy, Assistant Director for Facilities and Operations at the Center. “He is always willing to help out on any task. He takes great pride in his work, doing so with his kind, generous spirit.”
The award program was named in honor of Marybeth McAlister, long-time Director of Communications for UK CAER. Interestingly, McAlister and McPherson were dear friends – often enjoying conversation over a cup of coffee each morning.
“Having Antonio receive an award named for Marybeth is most appropriate,” said Rodney Andrews, UK CAER Director. “I know she’d be very pleased to know Antonio was recognized for his service to the Center.”
