UK, CAER recognized as exceptional employer by U.S. Navy Reserve

The University of Kentucky was recently recognized by the U.S. Navy Reserve as one of a select group of civilian employers honored during the Navy Employer Recognition Event (NERE) 2026, held June 11 in San Diego, California. Hosted by Acting Chief of Navy Reserve Rear Adm. Richard S. Lofgren, the annual event recognizes organizations that demonstrate exceptional support for employees who serve as Navy Reserve sailors. The recognition highlights employers that foster an environment where Reservists can successfully balance military commitments with their civilian careers. 

Yixin Luo, Ph.D., an associate research engineer at the UK Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) and Navy reservist, nominated UK for the recognition. Approximately 60 employers from across the nation were invited to participate in this year’s event.
